Kim Thomas, designer, manufacturer, company owner
"Don't Quilt Your Day Job is a company started out of frustration. I was trying to sew a quilt for my niece's first birthday and all the patterns I found were, shall I say, less than inviting. Not only were the color combinations way outdated, but the designs lacked the youth and modernism I desired. So I started making my own designs by taking patterns and images of things that have never before been seen on quilts. The first one I created for this company was Foul Play. I wanted to make it edgy but with a twist, and I thought that a chalk outline on someone's bed would definitely be a conversation piece. After seeing the results of that quilt I moved on to some more fun ideas and the inspiration hasn't stopped since. With my degree in Fashion Design I have the ability to pick colors that work together for our generation and the sewing skills to back up the design."
